Pops of Neon

We believe that there is no better way to add a little something special to your wardrobe, than with a splash of color. Not only does it get you in the mood for summer but it is a great way to make a simple outfit pop. In this look we wore simple black jeans with a cream colored tank-top with neon green spikes on the collar. We added some wrap around bracelets that match perfectly and shoes that incorparate all the colors of the outfit.

Flower Power

Spring showers bring May flowers, right? So this outfit was perfect for a day like today! The solid colored tank and black jeans are the perfect backdrop for this bright, flower patterned cardigan. These shoes, we loveee! They tie the  silver jewelry together and honestly, who isn’t going to notice them? Edgy but fun, just the way we like it!

FIT…The Fashion Institute of Technology, that is

I’m sure many of you know of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. This was the starting point for many  incredible people in the fashion world. Here are some members of the famous alumni, Calvin Klein (fashion designer), Nanette Lepore (fashion designer), Melissa McCarthy (actress), Michael Kors (fashion designer), Reem Acra (fashion designer of bridal dresses), Nina Garcia (Project Runway judge, creative director at Marie-Claire magazine) and Carolina Herrera (fashion designer). Most of us know at least one person from this list and can say with confidence that they are incredibly talented. Not only was it in their blood but FIT surely gave them the opportunity to put their creativity to work. We recently finished a four week course at FIT that we absolutely loved! The class we attended was called, Passion for Fashion Styling, and it gave us an oppurtunity to work with other people who share the same love for fashion. We were able to visit stores and create a mood board for a “celebrity client” which we later presented to the rest of the class. Sometimes it’a hard to find somewhere where you have the ability to let your creative juices flow because you don’t always have time or because your school doesn’t offer any classes, so FIT was great. We attended the Saturday classes which did go all day and we enjoyed every minute! If you live in NYC or are able to commute there, they have so many great classes you can try!

Throwback Thursday

Of all trends, we would have never thought that jelly shoes would come back into “style”, if they ever were, right? When we were little and spent time swimming in the lake with our cousins we wore these shoes to protect our little feet from getting stuck in the rocks. We always hated wearing them because, lets be honest, they’re pretty ugly. To see that they are now “in”, is definitely a surprise. MAJOR throwback.

What do you think about them? Would you rock these jelly shoes?

Boyfriend Jeans

Today’s look was cute and casual. We paired a simple t-shirt with a great pair of boyfriend jeans, high top converse, some simple jewlery and for a pop of color, we added a statement necklace. We usually wear skinny jeans but it’s always nice to change things up. Plus, with the weather getting warmer, boyfriend jeans are great for transitioning from winter to spring.

Classic with an Edge

Todays look was a combo of a classic plaid with an edgier, studded vest. We’re always looking for ways to add a pop to our outfits and layering like this is a great way to accomplish this. It adds more dimension to the outfit and gives you more to look at. Layering can be done in so many different ways, whether it’s a collared shirt under a crewneck sweater or a plain white tee with a great leather jacket on top. And of course, jewelry. You can always stack on some loose bangles or layer some thin necklaces that create a whole new piece of jewelry in itself.
